"Images of the Celtic fringe"

"An exhibition of work by Fine Art Landscape Photographer Gillian Richardson is currently being held at the Joanna Field Gallery in the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven, alongside the Theatre’s Summer Season production of Alan Ayckbourn’s trilogy ‘The Norman Conquests’. Gillian is well known for her portraits  of Pembrokeshire, and has exhibited widely over the last twenty years, but in this exhibition she also shows images  ranging from Cornwall to the Isle of Skye, demonstrating an artistic interpretation of the land and sea which ranges from the dramatic to the serene.

Two of the focal pieces of the exhibition are a stunning photograph of a sunset over the Brecon hills, and another over Slea Head, South West Ireland, demonstrating the power of light, yet contrasting with her capture of the subtlety of light falling over the land and seascapes of our western coasts.  Placing the emphasis on using the natural light source in the landscape to illuminate the subject she is portraying, many of her pictures have a spiritual quality, and her use of light to preserve shape, colour and contour on photographic film shows an artist who loves her work, and has the skill to perform it to great effect.

“Beneath Western Skies” is on until the 6th September."
